The SPCDC celebrated its 15th Anniversary on 9/11/10 with a block party as a day of service and celebration.
The planning has:
SPCDC organized the revival of the SPCDC Business Association and instituted service projects for students and others
instituted a Yards of Excellence Program competition
organized an open house week-end for all realtors with houses for sale in Seat Pleasant
included housing counseling in Spanish, Vietnamese, English and Korean
foreclosure clinics
pre-purchase workshops and
invited candidates seeking elective office to speak.
The SPCDC endeavors to stay abreast of community needs by organizing appropriate responses. In that regard we have sought diverse and appropriate funding sources. Currently, we are in negotiations with the County and State departments of Housing and Community Development to expand our programs. We also seek public/private partnerships to create unique opportunities for designated areas. Funding for expanded counseling and support services is crucial. We attend forums to identify availability of funding and make direct solicitations.
Date: January 18, 2012 Time: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Location: Washington, DC Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC 20001 On January 18, 2012, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will host a special outreach event targeting Veterans in Washington DC, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. The event will take place at the Washington, DC Convention Center and will include several VA organizations such as the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration, and the National Cemetery Administration. Participation is expected from other federal agencies including the Office of Personnel Management, Department of Defense and Department of Labor.
